In what has been termed as a moved
in recovering three thunder arrestors recently procured by the Delta State
Government to enhance the services of Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, the
State Government today constituted a 3-man Board of Inquiry to look into
matter.
In a release signed by Sir Austin Mowah, Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Information and made available to Naija Gossips, it states that a Board
of Inquiry which is at the instance of His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and headed by the State Commissioner for
Information, Barrister Chike Ogeah.
Other members of the Committee are
Mr. Paul Osahor, Director of Information and Mr. Precious Anuku, Director of
Planning Research and Statistics who will serve as Member/Secretary.
The Committee is to among other
things ascertain the immediate and remote causes leading to the theft of the
thunder arrestors and identify those culpable, and recommend appropriate measures
to forestall future occurrence and sanctions for those found culpable.
It would be recalled that prior to
now, a similar board was put in place to look into an alleged fraudulent
practice of some engineers and senior staff of the Delta Broadcasting Service,
Warri when an alarm was raised on illicit purchase of Transmitter which was
reported to be bad and bought from an engineer in Benin.
The lid on the illicit racket was let
loose when the same transmitter supposedly customized solely for DBS Warri, was
purchased from a seller located at Benin. Till date, nothing was heard of the
matter.
In its strive to upgrade the State
media outfits, both the administration of Chief James Ibori and Gov. Uduaghan
have pumped millions of naira into the establishments with nothing to show for
it.
